The Yankees turn to Luis Gil with their backs against the wall.

The rookie right-hander has been a sensation for the Bronx Bombers this season, but I don't expect him to get too involved in this game on Tuesday night in Game 4 of the World Series.

Gil has quietly struggled to break into the late innings in recent months.

He has pitched six innings just once since the All-Star break, but not once in the seventh.

In his only postseason start against the Guardians, Gil lasted just four innings and struck out three.

Things don't get any easier against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles' offense wasn't a world-beater, scoring a total of 14 runs in the three games, but it consistently showed tough offense in its lineup, striking out just 17 times.

In contrast, the Yankees have struck out 31 times so far in this World Series.

If Gil shows any signs of trouble, as he did in this game in Cleveland on Tuesday night, expect manager Aaron Boone to quickly pounce.

Boone used seven bullpen arms in Monday night's game, but none of them threw more than 17 pitches, meaning it should be all hands on deck again in Game 4.

Gil's strikeout line is relatively low at 3.5 punchouts (+120, BetRivers), but the Yankees' starters struggled to reach that number against this Dodgers lineup.

Only Gerrit Cole managed more than 3.5 Ks — and even then, he struck out just four batters in six innings.

It's a good time to fade the Yankees' rookie starter with the season on the line.

The Game: Luis Gil under 3.5 strikeouts (+120, BetRivers)
