Wisconsin QB Braedyn Locke throws a brutally bad interception

Wisconsin QB Braedyn Locke threw an awfully bad pick six during a Saturday loss to Penn State.

The Badgers entered the game as touchdown underdogs, but there was an unexpected sense of calm and confidence among the fans.

After winning three straight games and improving to 5-2, it seemed like the Badgers had at least a chance against the Nittany Lions.

That turned out to be correct. The Badgers led 10-7 well into the third quarter, the defense played well, Penn State had to use its backup QB… and then Locke threw a game-winning interception.

Braedyn Locke's terrible pick six is ​​inexcusable

When Locke found himself on third-and-long inside his own 10-yard line with 6:38 left in the third quarter, all he had to do was not turn the ball over for the Badgers to turn the field over with a punt.

Instead, he threw a pick six straight into the chest of Penn State safety Jaylen Reed. It was almost as if Locke had aimed at him.

The Wisconsin QB couldn't have done a better job making sure the ball was perfectly placed for Reed. He returned the favor for a touchdown, the momentum of the game changed and the Badgers never led again.

To Locke's credit, he didn't shy away from taking responsibility for one of the absolute worst interceptions of the year.

He took responsibility and took it like a man. However, he also claimed he saw Reed before he threw the ball. If that's the case, then why the hell did he throw it?

In a team sport, a loss is never the fault of a single player, and I certainly won't blame the 28-13 loss entirely on Locke.

However, there is no question that the interception completely changed the game. The Badgers had all the momentum, the lead and the defense held Penn State to just one touchdown well into the third quarter.

The crowd roared, and it seemed as if Penn State's inability to score meant Wisconsin would simply have to play turnover-free football and bide its time.

Instead, Locke gave them their easiest touchdown of the year, and that sparked a comeback that Wisconsin couldn't overcome. There is simply no excuse for a D1 quarterback to make such a decision.
