Today is election day. So if you didn't cast a vote during early voting, this is your last day to vote. In Missouri, polls close at 7 p.m. local time.

In addition to electing the nation's next president, Missourians will elect a new governor and other statewide officeholders, including lieutenant governor, attorney general, state treasurer and secretary of state, as well as several seats in Congress and the state's House of Representatives and Senate. They will also decide whether to pass or reject several constitutional amendments — including proposals that would restore access to abortion and legalize sports betting — as well as a measure to increase the state minimum wage. In Springfield, voters will decide whether to pass a new 3/4 cent sales tax as the pension sales tax expires in 2009.

When will the presidential race be called?

It is very likely that the presidential election results will not be announced on the night of November 5th. Depending on the state and applicable laws, it may take some time for all ballots to be counted.

According to Poynter, more than half of all states require mail-in ballots to be received by Election Day, but about 18 states count mail-in ballots if they are received after Election Day but are postmarked on or before Election Day.

Additionally, some state laws allow military or foreign votes to be received after Election Day.

State laws can also specify when local officials must stop counting ballots, which in certain states can be one to two weeks after Election Day, Poynter reported.
