Monday marks the last day of early voting before Election Day, and long lines are expected, according to the Chicago Board of Elections.

But as early voting comes to an end in Illinois, many across the state are choosing to vote on Election Day itself, which falls on Tuesday, November 5th.

When do polls open and close in Illinois?

Under Illinois state law, all polling locations statewide open at 6:00 a.m. CST on Election Day. On election day, polling stations close at 7:00 p.m

Voters in line at 7 p.m. are allowed to cast their ballots under Illinois law.

Can you still vote if it is your turn after the polls close?

Yes.

On Election Day, polling stations nationwide open at 6 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m

And remember, if you're standing in line when the polls close, you can still vote! So if you're rushing to your polling place at the last minute, don't worry if you see a line – and don't let anyone stop you from voting.

Can you register to vote on Election Day in Illinois?

Yes.

Residents who want to register to vote can do so on Election Day, but must go to a polling place that offers voter registration within a deadline.

When do polls open and close in Indiana?

In the state of Indiana, polling stations open at 6 a.m. local time on Tuesday and close at 6 p.m. local time in the evening.

Most of Indiana is on Eastern Time, but Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton and Jasper counties are all on Central Time, meaning their polls will be open later.
