Nevadans will begin celebrating the Silver State's 160th birthday on Friday, October 25th, six days before the state's official founding day on October 31st.

Here's a look at which offices are closed for the holiday, what remains open, and how to attend the Nevada Day Parade:

What is closed on Nevada Day?

Reno

All City of Reno administrative offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Friday, October 25, in observance of Nevada Day.

The following City of Reno facilities will also be closed Friday: Adaptive Cycling Center, California Building, Idlewild Pool, McKinley Arts & Culture Center, Moana Springs Community Aquatics & Fitness Center, Northwest Pool, Plumas Gym, Reno Tennis Center, skate parks, Sky Tavern , Teglia's Paradise Park Activity Center and Traner Pool.

The Neil Road Recreation Center and the Evelyn Mount Community Center will only be open as polling places for early voters from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but both are closed as facilities.

Washoe County

Washoe County public school students have Friday off. UNR employees and students also have this day off.

Most government offices in Washoe County will remain closed on October 25th. However, county buildings that serve as vote centers will remain open for voting only.

The following Washoe County offices will be closed: administrative offices at the Washoe County Complex at 1001 E. Ninth St., all regional animal shelter operations and Washoe County Libraries offices, Reno Justice Court, Sparks Justice Court, Incline Village Justice Court and Wadsworth Justice Court, Second Judicial District Court and the Washoe County District Attorney's Office, Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue Headquarters/Fire Protection and Administration Offices at 3663 Barron Way, Northern Nevada Public Health Clinical Services, Washoe County Human Services Agency and all food distribution locations.

Nevada

Department of Motor Vehicles offices will be closed across Nevada on Friday.

What's open on Nevada Day?

Polling places are open for voting throughout Reno, even if the facility is closed.

The County Clerk's office at the Washoe County Complex remains open for fictitious business names, notary bonds and marriage licenses from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, passport services are not available.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office and administrative offices will be unavailable. However, visitation and checkout services remain open, and if residents need urgent assistance, they can call 911 or contact the non-emergency hotline at 775-785-WCSO (9276).

Although the Regional Animal Services Shelter operations and office will be closed, field operations will continue as normal. Pets can be returned from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m

County libraries will remain closed, but book drops and online services will be available.

When is the Nevada Day Parade? Where is the Nevada Day Parade?

Nevada Day celebrations begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, October 26, in Carson City with a hot air balloon launch from Carson City.

The Nevada Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. with a military flyover followed by more than 200 participants marching through downtown Carson City. Participants can expect the parade to last four hours.

The World Championship Single Jack Rock Drill competition begins at 11 a.m. at Carson Mall

At 2 p.m., or immediately after the parade ends, the beard contest begins in McFadden Plaza.

The post-parade celebration will be held at Telegraph, Curry and Proctor streets from 3 to 6 p.m.
