Election Day is Tuesday and while many people are exercising their right to vote, some in Michigan may have the day off because it is a state holiday.

The state of Michigan recognizes Election Day as a state holiday, meaning state employees have the day off. However, since Election Day is not celebrated at the federal level, many companies will continue as usual.

Here are some locations that will be open or closed on Election Day:

State offices will be closed on Election Day, said Laura Wotruba, director of the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget. The parks will operate as usual.

Are banks open on election day?

Bank of America, Truist, PNC, Capital One, Wells Fargo and other bank branches will be open during their regular hours on Tuesday, November 5th.

Other banking services such as ATMs and online banking should also be available as usual on election day.

Are county offices open on Election Day?

It depends. Some counties, such as Oakland County, will remain closed on Election Day. Other counties will not be closed on this day.

What about Target, Kroger and Walmart? Are they open on election day?

No major retailer or grocery store will be closed on Election Day.

Is the post office open on election day? Will the mail be delivered?

Yes, post offices will be open and mail will be delivered on Tuesday as Election Day is not a federal holiday.

Do shipping services like UPS and FedEx deliver on Election Day?

Yes, UPS and FedEx pickup and delivery services will be available on Election Day and their stores will also be open.
