On a recent episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the host took a dig at Bret Baier for his now-viral Fox News interview with Kamala Harris. Colbert went on to call the network the “belly of the beast.” He also praised the Democratic presidential candidate for getting through the interview and holding her own. But before he began, he made it clear to his viewers that he fully supported the journalists who asked the presidential candidates the “toughest questions.”

He first emphasized that Baier never gave Harris the opportunity to answer his questions. Colbert jokingly asked, “Does he think he's interviewing himself?” He compared the journalist's behavior to that of a cat making a claw movement when it “meowed.” The moderator also pointed out that Baier misquoted Donald Trump and cherry-picked passages that justified his response. He joked that it was like someone just watching the opening scene of “Jurassic Park” and thinking that it would be a nice place to live because of the lush greenery.

Stephen Colbert then explained, “A journalist cannot selectively edit what someone says just to please his audience.” However, he couldn't resist adding that he could do that because he is a “late night host.” and “not a journalist”.

He also found it funny that Baier asked Harris why so many people supported Trump if he was as “bad” as she made him out to be. Colbert jokingly exclaimed that a Fox News journalist asking this question was the same as Taco Bell asking people why so many people suffer from diarrhea. The host then replied, “It’s you. You are the diarrhea factory.”

Stephen Colbert ended the segment by denouncing Bret Baier for trying to turn Kamala Harris into President Joe Biden during the interview. However, the presidential candidate made it clear that she represents “a new generation of leadership.” Colbert agreed with her point of view, noting that she was only 59 years old, making her much younger than Joe Biden, who is 81, and Donald Trump, who is 78.
