Weather in Austin: Potentially record-breaking heat this weekend

1 minute, 25 seconds Read

It may be autumn, but you certainly can't tell from the weather. It's expected to get even hotter this weekend.

Temperatures will start in the high 60s in the morning, climb to the 80s around midday, and we'll end the day in the low to mid 90s.

It will be another day with low humidity, which will counteract the heat somewhat.

We expect light winds.

It is an ozone action day, meaning the pollution will be harmful to some people with respiratory diseases such as asthma.

7 day forecast

It's going to be a hot second ACL weekend.

Highs of 96 degrees are expected on Saturday and 98 degrees on Sunday!

If we reach 98 points on Sunday, we will set a record. We will also be approaching a record high on Monday.

However, changes are coming.

The heat dome will move westward early next week and a low will occur late Tuesday.

We will finally feel like October, with lows in the 50s and 60s and highs in the mid 80s.

The only thing you won't see in our forecast is rain. We've had 35 straight days without measurable rain, and you can expect that streak to continue.

The Texas A&M Forest Service says there is a moderate fire risk in Central Texas.

Red River Rivalry Prediction

When Longhorn fans head to Dallas for the Texas-OU weekend, you won't be able to escape the heat.

Temperatures in the Cotton Bowl are expected to be around 93 degrees at kickoff and remain at 90 degrees throughout the game.
