The rafters of the TD Garden were even more crowded Tuesday night.

The Boston Celtics kicked off the 2024-25 NBA season on Tuesday night against the New York Knicks, and as is tradition, the reigning champions raised a banner reading “2024 World Champions” from the rafters in a special pregame ceremony .

The Celtics also received their championship rings in honor of their 18th NBA title, surpassing the Los Angeles Lakers as the most in league history.

Boston's 2023–24 season was historic in many ways, as the club set multiple NBA records while posting a 64-18 regular season record (fourth-best in team history) and a 16-3 postseason record culminated in five games with a win in the NBA Finals over the Dallas Mavericks securing Banner 18.

This historic achievement was immortalized on Tuesday evening.

The Celtics players took the floor about 30 minutes before kickoff wearing special championship warm-up jackets before each player, coach and member of the front office received their championship rings from NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla made a particularly memorable appearance when he kissed the floor before accepting his ring.

C's star then addressed the TD Garden crowd and sent fans into a frenzy by declaring, “Let's do it again.”

Finally, Celtics players gathered on the field to help lift Banner 18 into the rafters along with Boston's 17 other banners.

The Celtics have insisted all preseason that they are focused on the 2024-25 season and have put last season's title in the past, but Tuesday's ceremony was a great way to prepare for a historic 2023-24 season bow.
