WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – After record highs on Tuesday, our first cold front of the week will come through and bring fall weather back to Kansas. Much of the region will be closer to average on Wednesday, but dry weather will persist through the middle of the week. A second cold front heading toward Kansas could bring some thunderstorms to south-central and eastern Kansas on Thursday, but these are unlikely to be too widespread.

Highs will fall into the 60s and 70s midweek, but then warm up again on Thursday and reach the 80s again. Additionally, things are looking quite windy in the Wichita area on Thursday, which could raise concerns about fire danger, although humidity will rise again. After 5 p.m., a few thunderstorms may form from Wichita to southeast Kansas as the front moves through.

Look for cooler weather on Friday and Saturday. Highs will return to the 60s and 70s. Much more promising signs of rain could be on the horizon for next week. Stay tuned.
