Trump plays as a garbage man in the last election campaign

1 minute, 51 seconds Read

Donald Trump pretended to be a garbage man at several campaign rallies on Wednesday, seizing on a clip purportedly showing President Joe Biden calling Trump supporters “trash” that right-wing media and politicians seized on in the final days of the election .

Both Biden and the White House have denied this, both insisting he was simply referring to the racist rhetoric at Trump's rally at New York's Madison Square Garden. Nevertheless, excerpts from his statement have gained traction online and in right-wing media.

After Trump on Tuesday compared his interpretation of Biden's comment to the infamous moment in which Hillary Clinton called half of his supporters “deplorables” in 2016, he appeared to embrace this new label, manufactured or not, when he spoke on Campaigned in Wisconsin on Wednesday.

Trump, who has called those close to Vice President Kamala Harris “absolute trash” and the United States a “dustbin,” wore a high-visibility vest and, after some effort, managed to climb into the cab of a garbage truck for a ride in Green Bay to speak to reporters. He sat in the passenger side and refused to apologize to Puerto Ricans for comedian Tony Hinchcliffe after he called the island territory a “trash heap” at the former president's rally on Sunday.

Instead, Trump claimed he knew “nothing about” Hinchcliffe, who has also not apologized himself.

Later that evening, Trump kept the vest on for a speech in the same city.

Harris, for her part, was also in Wisconsin on Wednesday evening. Her appearance in Madison was preceded by singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, who called for support for the vice president.
