On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the internet was in for a real treat as Donald Trump was the star and everyone was wondering how much attention one chat can get. Led by Rogan, Trump and his guest dug deep into topics that were only as interesting as a cross between a political rally and a late-night comedy show. The viewership of nearly three hours of conversation shot up to over 20 million views on YouTube in just 20 hours.

20 million views in 20 hours: Trump's explosive Rogan interview

Yes, the former president paved the way to the hearts and minds of young Gen Z and Millennial generations by choosing podcasts and comedy shows over old media interviews. With around 20 million views in just 20 hours and over 25 million in one day, this episode is becoming one of the most watched in the series' history.

According to the NY Post, Trump and Rogan even topped the historically popular Game 1 of the World Series between the Yankees and Dodgers, which drew 15.2 million viewers – making it the most-watched opening game of the World Series since 2017.

On the other hand, Trump's opponent Kamala Harris also jumped into the podcast world, but she just couldn't beat Trump's game. A few weeks ago she appeared on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast. The episode made many headlines and received 687,000 views on YouTube in the three weeks since its release.

Trump's appearance on Joe Rogan follows a bittersweet story between the host and his guest, who had previously been hesitant about inviting Trump to his show and even praised Harris. However, it was apparent that they were growing closer as the duo discussed topics ranging from assassinations to UFOs, abolishing the income tax, his defeat in 2020 and more.

Barron Trump behind Trump's podcast strategy

The ex-president has been making a lot of noise lately by appearing on various podcasts and YouTube channels, such as Logan Paul in June and the Nelk Boys in October. Meanwhile, his vice president, JD Vance, reports through traditional channels, often appearing for interviews one at a time. A senior campaign adviser recently mentioned to Politico that Barron, the youngest Trump, was key to this strategy and often helped set up these chats with popular influencers.

“Barron was very involved in recommending a number of the podcasts that we should do,” Jason Miller shared on the Politico podcast. Trump's senior campaign adviser added: “I have to tell you: Hats off to the young man. “Every single recommendation he made has turned into absolute ratings gold that has broken the Internet.” He continued : “If you look at the impact of podcasts or YouTube shows – non-traditional media – it is partly the case that you meet voters where they are.”
