Baker Mayfield attempted to clarify comments Tom Brady made during a recent podcast appearance.

Mayfield insisted he meant no disrespect toward Brady when he took a playful dig at the quarterback-turned-broadcaster on the “Casa de Klub” podcast.

“I think a lot of it was taken out of context and none of it was personal in any way,” Mayfield told reporters after the Buccaneers' win over the Eagles. “It’s exactly what he asked the guys to do and that’s the aura of Tom Brady. And he did that to win a championship here.

“Nothing personal, but yeah, when I talk before the game, he's obviously happy for me and he knows the guys, so he knows how much I enjoy throwing to Mike (Evans) and Chris (Godwin) (because) him had to do the same. It’s fun to be able to talk to a man like that about the same experience.”

Mayfield had discussed the difference in mood between him and Brady, which some saw as a bit of a dig.

During the podcast interview, he said that “everyone was pretty stressed” because Brady had everyone so geared up to win.

“They wanted me to come in, be myself and bring the joy of football back to the guys who weren't having as much fun,” Mayfield said in the interview.

Brady fired back at him in the air while kicking off the game for Fox.

“I found it stressful not having Super Bowl rings,” Brady said. “So there was a champion mentality that I adopted every day at work. This wasn't a daycare center. If I wanted to have fun, I would take my kids to Disneyland.”

Mayfield seemed thrilled by Brady's comments when they were brought to his attention.

“Like I said – some things were taken out of context,” Mayfield said. “He did it his own way and that’s why he has seven rings. So not much more needs to be said.”
