Tierra del Fuego Season 1 expanded the Leone family by introducing Grandpa Leone. In Tierra del Fuego Season 1, Episode 20, “At the End of My Tether,” Walter Leone (Jeff Fahey) debuted as the oldest Leone man, whose life experiences had made him a complex character. In the midst of a health crisis, Walter messes up the relationships between Sharon, Vince and Luke by revealing secrets Vince never wanted to reveal. The character will be back Tierra del Fuego Season 3, Episode 3, “Welcome to the Cult.” Series Star Diane Farr makes her directorial debut directing the November 1 episode. Farr spoke to TV Insider and previewed the episode, in which Walter pays a surprise visit on an important day for Bode. She teased more about Walter this season, saying:

“Walter is tense all the time. He plays a very big role this season and everyone loves having him there. He is such a great patriarch for us. He is the nicest person. He travels all over the world doing service work and then he comes on set and he plays the loudest, most pushy, deaf character. He interacts with every single member of the cast this season and is just a bright spot.

A little foretaste of the episode shows Walter surprising Bode on his first day of training. Walter is there to prepare a steak dinner for the family and as Bode leaves the house he offers some advice. Farr talked about directing that scene where Vince and Sharon watch Bode leave with his lunch and how nostalgic it must have been for them. She spoke about the collaboration behind it, saying:

“I asked myself, 'Can Vince make lunch and hand him a sandwich bag? Can we really lean in if we go to kindergarten now?' And they (the props department) did it, and it was fun and we all got into it, and Max is such a sweet person. He smiled at Dad, Mom and Grandpa, turned around and walked away, as Director I said, “If you turn around, could you really say, 'Ugh, that's a lot, I'm 31 years old'?” And that's what he did, and I think that's the cut that stuck.

In “Welcome to the Cult,” Bode and Gabriela consider confessing a big secret they've been keeping secret, according to the episode's official logline. Watch Farr's directorial debut tonight, Friday, November 1st at 9pm ET on CBS. Stream past episodes on Paramount+.
