The upper level trough that caused yesterday's storm will begin to clear today. Short showers and drizzle are possible this morning until we move out. Temperatures will drop from 60 to 50 degrees this morning, accompanied by a breezy westerly wind.

Forecast for election day

Clouds will begin to break from west to east in the afternoon, with highs reaching the lower 60s in northern Oklahoma and the upper 60s in the southeast. Winds continue to blow from the west at about 10 miles per hour.

Tuesday high temperatures

Due to recent heavy rains, patchy fog is possible early Wednesday, but sunshine returns in the afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 60s.

Wednesday high temperatures

The next upper level storm system is developing and will impact our weather starting Thursday into the early part of the weekend, bringing additional chances for showers and thunderstorms.

The highest chance of rain is expected across much of eastern Oklahoma late Thursday night into Friday, ending early Saturday.

Rain timeline Thursday through Saturday

Some areas may see an additional 1 to 3 inches of rainfall, but the threat of severe weather remains low as surface instability is expected to be limited. While some timing changes are possible, it looks like most of the weekend will be precipitation-free, with morning lows in the 40s and 50s and highs in the 60s.

After nearly two months of drought, much of the area received 5 to 9 inches of rain last week. In early November, Tulsa recorded 6.42 inches of rain for the month, bringing the total since Jan. 1 to 41.46 inches.

Hurricane Rafael:

A tropical storm has formed in the Caribbean and is expected to strengthen into Hurricane Rafael when it hits Cuba later Wednesday night. The system will then move into the central Gulf of Mexico and potentially become a strong tropical storm or a Category 1 hurricane. Impacts from the system are likely along the southeastern U.S. coast, particularly southern Louisiana, through this weekend.
