There is looting in LA and a bus is set on fire during the World Series celebrations

Police in downtown Los Angeles issued evacuation orders and made arrests after reports of looting, vandalism and a hostile crowd that threw fireworks at officers and set a bus on fire after the Dodgers lost to the New York Yankees in the World Series had won.

The Los Angeles Police Department said in several posts

The department shared a video on X that shows people running out of a Nike store with boxes and merchandise in plain sight.

Police said on X that people in a crowd threw fireworks and “various projectiles” at officers, sparking calls for additional resources.

According to police, at one point the crowd “surrounded an MTA bus and attempted to set it on fire.” The incident occurred near Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park, police said. Photographers later took pictures of a subway bus engulfed in flames.

Throughout the night, officials issued orders to disperse the entire downtown area.

Police arrested at least 12 people downtown and in the Echo Park area, said Drake Madison, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department. Six people are charged with commercial burglary, four were arrested on theft charges and two were arrested for failure to evacuate, Madison said.

The Los Angeles Dodgers captured their eighth World Series title in franchise history with a 7-6 win in Game 5 on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
