The Chiefs presented the perfect opportunity to trade for an All-Pro defender after their Week 9 collapse

The trade deadline has passed and the Chiefs have less than 36 hours to make final moves. They have been linked to Saints All-Pro CB Marshon Lattimore and after New Orleans fell to the weak Carolina Panthers on Sunday, they are expected to be sellers.

Lattimore could give Kansas City a true partner for Trent McDuffie and solidify its defense as the league's best. Given the Saints' poor cap situation, they would likely take advantage of the potential in his contract to begin their rebuild after this season.

If they're not going to keep him anyway, why not send him to the Chiefs and give a veteran a chance to win a ring?

Brett Veach was active before the deadline and has already acquired WR DeAndre Hopkins and DE Josh Uche. Getting Lattimore would be icing on the cake and makes Kansas City a clear favorite to win a three-peat.

They're low on draft picks, but still have a pair of third-rounders thanks to the L'Jarius Sneed trade. Lattimore is only allowing a 54.5% completion rate and a 69.1 passer rating, so he's worth one of those thirds.

The Saints have now lost seven in a row after an impressive 0-2 start. Your season is over and it's time to look to the future. The Chiefs are now undefeated. Trading Lattimore to Kansas City makes too much sense for both sides. He has played in New Orleans his entire career. Doing right by him would also be a noble move from the front office.

No matter what happens, we will soon know what the final roster will look like. Here's hoping Veach has at least one more trick up his sleeve.
