The Cardinals rock the Bears 29-9 while everything practically falls apart in Arizona

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Try to name one thing the Bears did right on Sunday.

Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams struggled again.

There was no running game.

The defense made big mistakes.

And, as is so often the case, coach Matt Eberflus had no solutions.

That led to the Cardinals defeating the Bears 29-9 in a game they comfortably controlled from the end of the second quarter until the end.

The game before halftime was brutal. The Bears scored a late field goal to get within 14-9, but allowed a 53-yard touchdown run by Cardinals running back Emari Demercado with four seconds left.

Williams completed 22 of 41 passes for 216 yards and a passer rating of 68.8, and D'Andre Swift led them in rushing with 51 yards on 16 carries. Rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze had five catches for 104 yards, the second 100-yard game of his career.

Cairo Santos made all three of his field goals, twice from 53 yards and from 29 yards.

Defensive lineman Montez Sweat was inactive against the Cardinals after missing most of the week of practice with a shin injury and was listed as questionable for the game. He suffered a cut on his shin from a Commanders player's cleat last week and only trained on Thursday.

The Bears were also missing nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon for the Commanders game and most of the week of practice because of a hamstring injury he suffered in London against the Jaguars, and left guard Teven Jenkins (knee) after he suffered a injury against who had injured the commanders. Neither of them completed a full practice this week, although both looked like they were leaning toward playing on Friday.

The Bears will likely start with a starting offense consisting of left tackle Larry Borom, left guard Jenkins, center Coleman Shelton, right guard Matt Pryor and right tackle Darnell Wright.

Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson is back in action a week after an embarrassing mistake against the Commanders, but a source said he won't start.

Here are the Bears' inactives against the Cardinals:

RB Khalil Herbert
LT Braxton Jones (knee)
OT Kiran Amegadjie (calf)

DT Byron Cowart
DE Montez Sweat (shin)
CB Kyler Gordon (hamstring)
S Jaquan Brisker (concussion)

The Cardinals will be without defensive lineman Darius Robinson (calf) and offensive tackle Jonah Williams (knee).

Chicago Bears center Coleman Shelton (65) and running back D'Andre Swift (4) leave the field after an NFL football game against the Arizona Cardinals, Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, in Glendale, Arizona.

Nothing went right for the Bears in their loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.

Caleb Williams wasn't very good, but the Bears offense didn't give him much of a chance. With Montez Sweat sidelined, the Bears' run defense collapsed, allowing 213 yards and three touchdowns in a 29-9 loss that didn't sit well with Matt Eberflus and his coaching staff.
