The benches between the Yankees and Royals are empty as KC comes to terms with the end of the season

The Royals are not so happy that their season is slowly coming to an end at the hands of the Yankees.

It was a sad day for Kansas City as the Royals played an elimination game in the American League Division Series with New York leading 2-1. The Royals players couldn't maintain their composure, leading to a bench fight in the sixth inning after New York's Anthony Volpe hit a double play to give Maikel Garcia a 3-0 lead.

The young Yankee patted Maikel several times after tagging him, inspiring Garcia to continue tweeting at Volpe. The New York bench rushed to defend Volpe as Garcia's anger grew. Both benches were eventually cleared, but no shots were thrown.

Predictably, a “Yankees Suck” chant broke out at Kauffman Stadium.

In Games 3 and 4, the Royals made a big comeback against the Yankees, but never quite came through.

REGARD:

Gerrit Cole also got off the mound and provoked some action – proving he was all talk and no argument.

Pour one out for the royals. KC demonstrated a semblance of a fight in this small but exciting scene. Garcia, Bobby Witt Jr. and the rest of the Kansas City roster can't be happy with this royal postseason collapse.

At least the city still has the chiefs to get the job done.
