The Arizona Cardinals are getting a massive boost leading up to Monday Night Football

TEMPE – The Arizona Cardinals will have rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. available for their Week 7 Monday Night Football matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The news was first reported this morning by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media:

“#AZCardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. has cleared NFL concussion protocol and will play Monday night, sources say. He has been removed from the injury report.”

Minutes later, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed the news during his press conference.

“Marvin will go. Owen Pappoe won't be able to go. We won't activate Darius (Robinson), otherwise we'll see in the next few days. We’re ready to go,” Gannon said.

Harrison suffered a blow to the head early in the Week 6 loss to the Green Bay Packers and did not return. He was seen wearing a yellow non-contact jersey at practice on Thursday before changing back into his normal attire on Friday.

“He's good. He does whatever he needs to do,” Gannon continued about Harrison.

“The protocol is obviously different, but he looks after himself and maximizes his bets. He really is a true professional. So he had a good week. We’ll see him out there today, but he’s ready to go.”

The Cardinals have a 2-4 record this season and will need all the help they can get against the Chargers' defense, whose offense has been limited to fewer than a league-leading 14 points per game.

Harrison hasn't missed a game yet, but has been pretty inconsistent in targeting in Arizona's offense. The No. 4 overall pick has 17 receptions for 279 yards and four touchdowns through the first six weeks of play.

Harrison had to pass five different phases of the league's concussion protocol to play Monday, and Gannon said his condition during the week didn't change Arizona's potential game plan for the Chargers.

“We're very aware of who's out there, you know what I mean? And then try to develop the game plan with that in mind as well. You can't repeat a game plan for one guy, but you can do it.” “You have to do different things to make sure you put them in a good position so they can be successful,” Gannon said.

“I am firmly convinced of that. I talk to the coaches and players all the time about adaptability. It's our job to problem solve and figure out who's out there and make sure we're putting the right people out there and asking them to do the right things for the good of the team – we understand that. “
