JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Jackson State University's head coach has committed more of his future to the university.

On Friday, JSU President Dr. Marcus Thompson and Vice President/Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson announced that TC Taylor has signed a contract extension with the program. It is unclear for how long.

“It's truly a blessing and shows me that all the work I've done over the last year and a half as head coach has been done by our great AD Ashley Robinson and our president Dr. “Thompson hasn’t gone unnoticed,” Taylor said. “It is truly a blessing to be the head coach of my alma mater and now I can focus on building this football program.”

Taylor is in his second year at the helm of the football program and finished his first season at his alma mater with a 7-4 record. This season, Coach Taylor and the Tigers are 6-2 and are currently on a four-game winning streak.

He played at JSU from 1998 to 2001.

Jackson State football hosts the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff for its home game on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN Plus.
