Sources told ESPN that Nebraska is adding former Houston and West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen to the roster as an offensive consultant.

According to sources, Holgorsen will work with the offensive staff in a role that will evolve over the course of the season. Holgorsen joins the team after spending this season as an offensive consultant at TCU.

He comes to Nebraska at a time when the offense – and freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola – have been mired in a stretch of uneven play and the team is on a three-game losing streak.

In Nebraska's six conference games, the Cornhuskers ranked 12th in the Big Ten in offense, 14th in rushing offense and 11th in passing offense. Offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield has drawn criticism during Nebraska's recent offensive slump, which has led to a decline in the passing game of Raiola, who was ESPN's No. 11 recruit and top pocket passer in the 2024 recruiting class.

Raiola has the third-most interceptions among Big Ten quarterbacks with eight, trailing Michigan State's Aidan Chiles (11) and USC's Miller Moss (9), who was traded by the Trojans in favor of Jayden Maiava for next week's matchup against the Cornhuskers is used.

In the last four games, Raiola has thrown just one touchdown and six interceptions. After a 5-1 start, Nebraska is 5-4 and needs a win in a tough final stretch to win the program's first bowl game since 2016. This is the longest losing streak of any team in power conference football.

Nebraska has a bye this week before traveling to USC next week.

With Holgorsen they are getting a coach who is a well-known quarterback teacher and author of numerous offenses. Over the years, he has worked as an assistant and head coach with a number of top college quarterbacks – Graham Harrell, Case Keenum, Brandon Weeden, Geno Smith, Will Grier and Clayton Tune.

Sources said Holgorsen arrived in Lincoln on Monday.
