Slidell, STM, Hannan, John Curtis and Country Day take top spot in state volleyball playoffs – Crescent City Sports

After reaching the Division I semifinals last season, Slidell expected a stellar 2024 season. That was the case, and the Tigers were rewarded.

Slidell (34-4) has secured the top spot in the Division I playoffs and will host No. 32 Airline (14-16) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m

Four-time defending champion Dominican Republic (30-8) is the No. 2 seed and hosts No. 31 seed Alexandria (19-5) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m

The Dominicans and district rival Mount Carmel Academy, which have owned the division for a decade, cannot meet in the title game. The two powers are on the same side of the bracket as the third-seeded Cubs (30-7) face a familiar foe in district rival Chalmette (16-18) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Dominicans and Mount Carmel could meet in the semifinals. Mount Carmel won two of three games with the Dominican Republic in the regular season.

No. 4 Hahnville (30-7) will entertain No. 29 St. Amant (17-21) on Wednesday at 5 p.m

No. 5 Fontainebleau (29-12) plays No. 28 Liberty (18-12) at home on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

No. 10 Archbishop Chapelle (24-16) plays No. 23 Walker (18-13) at home on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Two District 6-I rivals face a rematch as No. 12 Northshore (19-17) hosts No. 21 Covington (18-20). The Panthers defeated the Lions in the regular season. Four District 6-I rivals are all on the same side of the bracket: Slidell, Fontainebleau, Northshore and Covington.

No. 19 Central Lafourche (23-17) travels to No. 14 Barbe (25-14) at 5 p.m.

No. 24 Destrehan (15-14) travels to No. 9 Southside (24-9) on Thursday at 4 p.m.

No. 27 Mandeville (10-24) is at No. 6 Dutchtown (31-9).

In Division II, three-time defending champion St. Thomas More (31-3) took first place and the Cougars host No. 32 The Willow School (7-11) in the opening round.

No. 2 seed Sam Houston (36-6) hosts No. 31 seed David Thibodaux (9-18).

Ben Franklin (26-9) picks up third-seeded home win against No. 30 Comeaux (8-12) on Thursday at 5 p.m.

No. 4 Lakeshore (20-12) will entertain No. 29 Ellender (12-12).

No. 5 Academy of Our Lady (26-7) plays No. 28 Salmen (13-14) on Thursday at 5 p.m.

No. 7 Kenner Discovery (26-7) will entertain No. 26 LaGrange (11-14) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m

No. 8 South Lafourche (27-13) hosts No. 25 Leesville (10-15) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

No. 9 St. Scholastica (16-18) will entertain No. 24 West Ouachita (10-16).

No. 11 Belle Chasse (27-11) awaits No. 22 Warren Easton (12-11) in the opening round.

No. 15 Assumption (17-23) hosts No. 18 Beau Chene (14-7).

No. 16 Karr (13-8) gets a home game against No. 17 Scotlandville (8-9).

No. 19 McDonogh 35 (18-9) plays at No. 14 Cecilia (19-9) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

No. 23 Pearl River (12-10) has a long road trip to face No. 10 Natchitoches Central (26-8) on Thursday at 4:30 p.m

No. 27 Patrick Taylor (14-18) faces a tough road trip to No. 6 Teurlings Catholic (18-14).

In Division III, Archbishop Hannan is the reigning state champion and has secured first place.

The Hawks (28-6) host District 6-III rival No. 32 Loranger (7-17) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Hawks beat the Wolves in straight sets in the regular season.

Haynes Academy (30-7) receives the No. 2 seed and the Yellow Jackets host No. 31 Jennings (8-23).

No. 3 Vandebilt Catholic (28-6) plays at home against No. 30 Booker T. Washington-New Orleans (10-23).

No. 4 St. Michael (25-7) hosts No. 29 New Orleans Science & Math (16-13).

No. 6 ED White Catholic (19-12) hosts No. 27 Istrouma (22-10). ED White is seeded for a return match with arch-rival Vandebilt Catholic in the quarterfinals.

No. 10 Berwick (23-9) plays at home against No. 23 Livonia (15-18).

No. 12 Lutcher (16-14) plays at home against No. 21 Madison Prep (8-19).

No. 16 Livingston Collegiate (14-12) wins a home game against No. 17 Iowa (14-17).

No. 18 Douglass (14-10) travels to No. 15 St. Martinville (20-10) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

No. 20 Cabrini (9-22) is at No. 13 Eunice (22-5) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

No. 22 Landry (12-14) faces No. 11 St. Louis Catholic (22-11).

No. 28 De La Salle (11-25) hits the road to face No. 5 Parkview Baptist (25-10) at 4:30 p.m

In Division IV, John Curtis Christian (34-7) is the No. 1 seed and the Patriots play No. 32 seed Pine (8-15) at home on Wednesday at 4 p.m

No. 2 Lafayette Christian (34-5) plays No. 31 North Caddo (11-11) at home on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Defending state champion and No. 3 seed Northlake Christian (25-12) hosts No. 30 Sarah Reed (14-10) in the first round.

No. 4 Newman (23-11) entertains No. 29 South Plaquemines (9-12).

No. 7 Academy of The Sacred Heart of New Orleans (28-7) hosts No. 7 Academy of The Sacred Heart of New Orleans (28-7). 26 Springfield (15-15). The Cardinals defeated Springfield in a regular season game.

No. 10 Houma Christian (18-7) will face No. 23 Jefferson Rise (12-10) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

No. 11 Pope John Paul II (14-22) awaits No. 22 St. Charles Catholic (11-16).

No. 12 Thomas Jefferson (20-16) will play No. 21 Vinton (16-8) at home.

No. 13 Doyle (20-11) is at home against No. 20 Fisher (16-14) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

No. 15 Ursuline Academy (12-17) won a home game against No. 18 West St. Mary (14-12) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

No. 19 St. Thomas Aquinas (12-13) goes to No. 14 Episcopal (12-8).

In Division V, eight-time defending champion Country Day (27-5) is the top seed and the Cajuns host No. 32 Southern Lab (6-21) in the opening round.

No. 2 Westminster Christian (31-8) hosts No. 31 Downsville (11-13) on Wednesday at 5 p.m

No. 3 Ascension Catholic (22-13) hosts No. 3 on Tuesday at 5 p.m. 30 Vermilion Catholic (12-15).

No. 4 Crescent City Christian (22-9) will host No. 29 North Iberville (10-11) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m

No. 5 McGehee (18-8) entertains No. 28 St. Mary (8-14).

No. 7 Central Catholic (15-15) plays No. 26 First Baptist Christian (6-14) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

No. 8 Covenant Christian (23-12) will host No. 25 Hanson Memorial (12-14) on Tuesday at 6 p.m

No. 11 Christian Episcopal (19-11) is at home against No. 22 St. Martin's Episcopal (10-15). Christ Episcopal defeated the Saints in straight sets during the regular season.
