Six things the Titans noticed in their overtime win over the Patriots on Sunday

NASHVILLE – The Titans defeated the Patriots 20-17 in overtime at Nissan Stadium on Sunday.

Here's a look at six things that stood out in the competition:

An emotional Brian Callahan

In his first season as head coach, Brian Callahan has been as transparent as can be. He was open and honest, whether it was dealing with injuries, his assessments of players or his decisions about his coaching staff. He is visibly upset after the defeats. After Sunday's game, Callahan was emotional. After a game in which his team didn't give up despite all the odds, he fought back tears several times. It was the most emotional I've ever seen from a Titans head coach after a win. “I mean, look at me,” Callahan said as tears welled up in his eyes. “I needed it, bad man. It was a – yes, we needed it.” Callahan said he became emotional because he was proud of his team and his players. “I think it’s all about what we’re about, just the program itself, what we want to look like, what our team looks like. And we had moments of really resilient play,” he said. “But that was a really resilient performance from our boys. Giving up a ball in the last second to tie the game and then going into overtime and then reacting. I thought we really did a good job for the first time. “Throughout the year, when something bad happened, we really complemented each other, and when something didn't work on offense or defense, those things were important to us I just think it was really good to see that happen and see our guys play like I know what we’re capable of.”

The tough and robust Tony Pollard

Callahan's voice broke for the first time when he mentioned Pollard's name. In many ways, Pollard was the heart and soul of the team this season. On Sunday, Pollard ran for 128 yards on 28 carries, including 32 long runs. It seemed like Pollard was ripping off four- and five-yard runs every time he got the football, and that was after a week in which he didn't practice because of a…foot injury. Pollard now has 622 yards and three touchdowns in eight games this season. The impact he had on the team was more important than the yards. “I mean, 154 total yards, I haven’t practiced once this week,” Callahan said. “He is everything. He's everything our locker room is about. Proud (crap) of him.”
