Saints DE beaten for really dirty move on Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert

Nathan Shepherd is criticized for what appears to be a pretty dirty game against Justin Herbert.

The New Orleans Saints defensive tackle grabbed Herbert by the lower leg and twisted him after the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback threw a pass in the first half on Sunday. It looked really bad.

The Chargers scored on second-and-8 from their own 31-yard line with 7:45 left in the first half. Herbert dropped back and made a pass to JK Dobbins, giving him a 10-yard gain. After he released the ball, Shepherd was on the ground beneath him, grabbed Herbert's leg, then twisted it, bringing the quarterback to the ground. It definitely looked dirty and like it was done on purpose.

Chargers offensive lineman Bradley Bozeman immediately jumped in and hit Shepherd.

Shepherd was charged with unnecessary roughness, but so was Bozeman, so they ended up having to balance penalties.

The NFL world was unanimous in its condemnation of Shepherd's behavior.

That was long after the ball had gone and it wouldn't be shocking if Shepherd was fined this week.
