Revealed: Aaron Rodgers' reaction to Robert Saleh's Jets shot – QB delayed Pat McAfee's appearance by 24 hours

Aaron Rodgers reportedly arrived at the Jets' facility on Tuesday unaware that his former head coach Robert Saleh was no longer employed by the team.

Now the four-time NFL MVP's reaction has been revealed, with Saleh being ousted after being one of the key players who moved mountains to keep him happy.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Rodgers was “blindsided” by the news of Saleh's firing and had no idea the move was imminent.

Jets owner Woody Johnson also made the move on his own initiative, not contacting Rodgers before firing Saleh or telling him about the move before arriving at team headquarters.

Rodgers had a meeting with Johnson after hearing the news that Saleh had gotten the pink slip.

The sports world was shocked by Saleh's firing on Tuesday, five games into the Jets' season, with Rodgers' reaction to the loss of his head coach as an opinion as valuable as any within the organization.

Rodgers was so shocked by the news that he postponed his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show by a day and appeared on Wednesday instead of his typical Tuesday appearance.

The Jets are 2-3 this season, with sky-high expectations and a limited window with their 40-year-old quarterback.

Johnson apparently made the move with Rodgers in mind, although he did not consult with him about it.

“This morning I informed Robert Saleh that he will no longer serve as head coach of the Jets,” Jets owner Woody Johnson confirmed in a statement on Tuesday. “I thanked him for his hard work over the last three and a half years and wished him and his family all the best for the future.”

“This was not an easy decision, but we are not yet where we should be expected to be and I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction.”

Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was named interim coach for the remainder of the season.

Rodgers has stated multiple times that he likes Saleh, and any power play that could get his coach fired is nonsense.

Saleh reportedly considered firing offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, the embattled former Broncos head coach, before being fired himself.

Johnson's rationale for firing Saleh, his first firing this season in 25 years as owner, is to give his team the best chance to win this season.

Saleh's ouster comes two days after the Jets' loss to the undefeated Vikings in London, where he controversially wore a Lebanon flag on his jersey.

His decision to carry the flag amid the war between Israel and Hezbollah came under fire as Monday marked the one-year anniversary of the Nova Music Festival, in which the terrorist group Hamas killed more than 1,200 people in Israel.

Saleh, who became the NFL's first Muslim-American head coach when he joined the Jets in 2021, departs with a dismal 20-36 record after failing to make the playoffs in each of his three full seasons.

Rodgers has remained healthy this season, but his offense is largely to blame for the team's woes in 2024.

After rupturing his Achilles tendon on four of his offensive shots during his 2023 season, Rodgers remained in the headlines with his weekly appearances on McAfee's show.

Rodger's appearances were considered controversial as he spoke about conspiracy theories surrounding the coronavirus vaccine and called Travis Kelce “Mr. Pfizer.'
