According to ESPN's David Payne Purdum, the NBA has asked sportsbooks not to offer under-bets on players on two-way or 10-day contracts.

Purdum adds that the restrictions on under-betting on NBA players on two-way or 10-day contracts are the result of discussions between the league and sportsbooks over the summer to combat match-fixing.

Last year, former Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter was banned for life from the NBA after a league investigation found he leaked confidential information to sports bettors and bet on games, even a Raptors loss.

When Porter's news broke in April, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said: “There is nothing more important than protecting the integrity of NBA competition for our fans, our teams and everyone associated with our sport, which is why Jontay Porter has committed blatant violations of our rules of the game. Rules are punished with the harshest penalties.”

The league found that Porter gave information about his own health to a bettor before a game and said that another person – known to be an NBA bettor – placed an $80,000 bet that Porter would be in one Online sports betting would not reach the numbers set for it book. This bet would have won $1.1 million.

Porter left the game after less than three minutes, citing illness. None of his stats matched the totals set in the parlay.

The $80,000 bet was frozen and not paid out.

This is a developing story.
