Reno police are investigating a homicide in northwest Reno | Local News

Update (October 28, 11:42 a.m.):

A statement from the Reno Police Department indicates that the department is investigating our previously reported death as a homicide.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Oct. 27, officers responded to 7000 Mae Anne Avenue – the Aviana at Tuscany Apartments – on a report of a shot fired in the area.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man had been shot.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. At that point, the Reno Police Department Robbery-Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

The suspect in the investigation is still unidentified, but investigators believe this is an isolated incident that does not pose a threat to the public.

Identification of the victim will be released upon proper notification.

Reno Police Department investigators are investigating a death at an apartment complex in northwest Reno this evening.

The investigation is taking place at the Aviana at Tuscany Apartments on Mae Anne Avenue in Reno.

Reno Police are currently on scene.

Lieutenant Mike Browett of the Reno Police Department was able to confirm there is no active threat to the community.
