This afternoon, the Detroit Red Wings (4-3-0) will visit the Buffalo Sabers (3-4-1) for a matinee at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo. The Red Wings enter the afternoon contest looking to extend their current winning streak to four games, while Buffalo looks to extend its own winning streak to three straight games.

Alex Lyon will return to the net and take over the starting position in goal for Detroit, although the Red Wings may be forced into another lineup with 11 forwards and seven defensemen if JT Compher proves unable to contribute in game time.

One story to keep an eye on as the game begins is the matchup between the Detroit penalty kill and the Sabers power play. The Red Wings PK need to hurry up and currently have a 62.5% success rate after conceding nine power play goals (second highest mark in the league). Meanwhile, Buffalo's power play is still waiting for its first goal of the season at 0:22. Something has to happen this afternoon and one team can get a confidence boost while the other is left soul-searching.

Finally, the game will be broadcast this afternoon (a scheduled puck drop at 1:00 p.m.) on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit's new default home for in-market fans, while out-of-towners can watch the game via streaming on Hulu and ESPN+.
