BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – With forecast trends returning to mostly dry, record warm potential returns to the local forecast. Based on the current forecast, daily records for today and tomorrow are expected to remain the same or even be broken. High temperatures will rise to 89°, with some neighborhoods even dropping below 90°. That's absurdly warm for early November, as normal highs for this time of year are around 70°. Temperatures will drop a few degrees Friday afternoon thanks to additional clouds and a few passing showers.

Jeff Morrow and the WAFB First Alert Weather Team will provide an update on what we're tracking next on Wednesday, November 6th.

The chance of rain is expected to increase over the weekend. The main reason for this is an approaching cold front. This cold front will move through the area early Sunday. The biggest question mark is how much tropical moisture this cold front can pull north from Tropical Cyclone Rafael in the central Gulf of Mexico.

Right now, the best chance of rain appears to be late Saturday into early Sunday. This could cause some comfort issues for Saturday night's LSU/Alabama football game in Death Valley. Be sure to have a poncho handy if you want to enjoy the game.

The rain should come through early enough on Sunday to ensure a dry end to the weekend. Things appear to remain dry on Veterans Day Monday as Rafael begins to sputter in the western Gulf of Mexico. Another cold front is expected to move through the viewing area next Wednesday/Thursday. Long-term weather models suggest that this cold front will cause a significant drop in temperatures.
