Robert Lewandowski scored twice in three minutes as La Liga leaders Barcelona beat Real Madrid in El Clasico to move six points clear of their rivals.

Real were looking to extend their unbeaten run in the league to 43, which would have equaled the record set by Barcelona between April 2017 and May 2018.

But their hopes of doing so were dashed by a devastating second-half performance from their opponents.

After a goalless first half, Lewandowski equalized in the 54th minute with a skillful finish from a through pass from Marc Casado.

The Polish striker then stunned the hosts with a second shot, heading Alejandro Balde's cross into the right corner.

Lewandowski had two good chances to complete a hat-trick, hitting the woodwork from the start before firing over from a good position.

17-year-old Spanish teenage star Lamine Yamal scored Barcelona's third goal when he fired into the top corner from a tight angle, before Raphinha added a fourth late on as both players scored for the first time in El Clasico.

The result ensured Kylian Mbappe's first taste of the famous game ended in defeat, as the French striker had two goals disallowed for offside and Inaki Pena also failed to score in Barcelona's goal.
