The 24-year-old is one of the most talented players in the league; However, he struggled to stay healthy throughout his professional career. So far this season, Williamson has missed three of eight games.

The former Duke Blue Devil averaged 21.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.2 blocks over 31.4 minutes per game in five regular season games. Williamson isn't the only Pelican excluded; The team will also be without second-year guard Jordan Hawkins.

Hawkins is dealing with a back injury and because of that, Javonte Green and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl are likely candidates for a larger role.

Despite being one of the NBA's most explosive and indispensable players, Williamson has struggled with injuries frequently throughout his career. Last season was an exception as he played the majority of his young career, playing 70 games.

Unfortunately for Williamson, health has been a major factor in him and his career so far.

Williamson has superstar talent, but injuries have prevented him from reaching his potential. The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft was limited to 114 appearances over his first four seasons – he missed the 2021-22 season entirely – and appeared to finally be turning things around in terms of his health.

Last season was the healthiest of his career and his play showed. He averaged 22.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 57 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three while averaging 31.5 minutes.

It may be too early to worry about Williamson's health as he misses his third game of the season, but given his health concerns, New Orleans should always be concerned.

The 24-year-old's list is long, as he only played 24 games in his rookie season due to a torn meniscus. He broke his finger in his second season, but still appeared in 61 games and was named an All-Star for the first time in his career.

However, in his third year, Williamson missed the entire season due to a foot injury. He also suffered a foot injury in November 2022. In total, Williamson missed 207 regular season games due to injury.

The hope is that nothing comes of this in the long run, but with Williamson you just never know.
