2. Jets take control as Maye departs

The game continued to follow a similar script to last week, as two interference calls on the third pass paved the way for the Jets' first score. It was a six-play, 35-yard, 70-yard drive, half of the total drive, that came from two penalties, one against Christian Gonzalez and one against Christian Elliss.

Breece Hall had two nice back-to-back gains of nine yards and 16 yards, but the Jets also had a fumbled snap that ruined one of their snaps in the red zone. Tight end Tyler Conklin caught Rodgers' touchdown throw, but the Jets missed the extra point, leaving the Patriots 7-6 late in the first quarter.

Drake Maye suffered a hard hit following the Patriots' possession, part of a three-and-out that ended with the punt being overturned. Special teams didn't do much to improve the situation as momentum steadily shifted toward New York. They allowed a 40-yard return followed by a net 24-yard punt as New York controlled the early battle for field position.

The Jets responded with a seven-play, 59-yard touchdown drive. A 27-yard pass to Garrett Wilson was the best play of the possession, setting up New York for a one-yard touchdown throw that gave them their first lead of the game, 13-7.

Meanwhile, Maye went to the locker room with a head injury and would be out for the second half. Jacoby Brissett took over the offense, but neither team managed to score on the final two possessions of the half. He exchanged punts while New England's defense stemmed the tide, forcing a late punt and keeping the Jets ahead by six points at halftime.
