Patriots QB Drake Maye has been cleared from the concussion protocol and will start Sunday against the Titans

Maye suffered the concussion in the first half of last week's 25-22 win over the New York Jets, and although backup Jacoby Brissett steadily led the Patriots to victory, the team will be pleased with the dynamic boost their first-rounder can provide offensively provide.

The No. 3 overall pick in 2024 has thrown for 564 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions while also running for 114 yards and another score. Since replacing Brissett in Week 6, he has given New England the only two games in which he has surpassed 200 pass yards in each of his games from start to finish.

Maye played it more efficiently than a very conservative Brissett, who only threw two touchdowns despite having almost twice as many attempts as the rookie (159). Maye has averaged 1.5 yards more on his attempts and is averaging 10.6 yards per completion compared to Brissett's 8.8 yards. His passer rating of 92.6 is also better than his teammate's 74.6.

While Maye is still maturing, such a difference in a game played on the edge should serve the Pats better compared to the NFL's top-ranked passers and all-time defense.

Maye is still looking for his first career win, but if he can pull off a victory against the Titans, it would be the Patriots' second straight win and third overall, keeping their season just afloat.

New England (2-6) and Tennessee (1-6) begin Sunday's matchup at 1 p.m. ET.
