Pat McAfee reacts to Colts' Anthony Richardson leaving the game

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson sacked the Houston Texans early in the third quarter on Sunday.

Pat McAfee responded immediately.

“Until I saw Anthony Richardson, I have never seen an NFL QB retire while still healthy,” McAfee wrote on Twitter/X on Sunday. “The QB is your franchise. The message it sends is loud and influential.”

Richardson tapped his helmet, signaling he needed to be subbed out, after falling on a sack by linebacker Jake Hansen. CBS reported that Richardson was out of breath and was not actually injured.

He left for one game and was replaced by Joe Flacco.

The fourth overall pick in the 2023 draft, Richardson was viewed by the Colts as the future in their pocket. His ability to throw from many angles and his athleticism were some of the traits they liked.

Back in August, Kirk Herbstreit talked about Richardson and veteran caller and backup Flacco during a preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Two completely different types, especially because you know what you get at Flacco.

“I'm just wondering how you handle it if it continues like this if you're (head coach) Shane Steichen,” Herbstreit said.
