A ousted veteran CBS reporter has written a lengthy expose claiming to reveal details about how the network suppressed a Hunter Biden story.

Catherine Herridge, in her newsletter, described the network's investigation of the laptop as a “missed opportunity for CBS News” and suggested the network had failed to properly report its findings.

Herridge said she told company executives that the laptop contained material about “a million-dollar payment from a Chinese energy company” in early October 2020, as well as Hunter's business texts and emails.

But later that month, during a 60 Minutes interview with then-President Trump, correspondent Lesley Stahl said the laptop “could not be verified,” according to Herridge. “Watching the show made me feel sick,” she wrote.

It came after two IRS whistleblowers met with Herridge for an interview and told her they were barred from investigating Joe Biden as part of the government's investigation into his son.

Now Herridge suspects CBS failed to properly report what she found on the laptop.

“I was tasked with reviewing the laptop and its contents after multiple platforms suppressed the story,” Herridge wrote, adding that she was given “confirmed reporting” on Hunter by CBS News executive Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews Biden hired Evening News anchor Norah O'Donnel in October 2020.

“Due diligence included operating the phones, contacting the people in Hunter Biden’s emails for confirmation, and comparing court records.”

“From the reviewed documents I collected, it also appeared that the laptop belonged to Hunter Biden.”

“I told Ciprian-Matthews that the materials reviewed included a multi-million dollar advance from a Chinese energy company, emails with Hunter Biden’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski, and text messages from Hunter Biden.”

“When Ciprian-Matthews asked if there was a “Hunter connection,” I replied, “Yes, all of them.”

“I then forwarded some of the reviewed records directly to Ciprian-Matthews. We spoke briefly on the phone. I don't know what happened next at this point.

“Based on my reporting and as the network's senior investigative correspondent, CBS News' investigative unit was not tasked with developing more reporting on the laptop in October 2020. “That would have been standard practice.”

Herridge said that during a 60 Minutes interview with then-President Trump later that month, she “felt sick” when CBS anchors told him that the laptop “couldn't be verified.”

“I knew the laptop records could be checked and confirmed,” she said.

“I was puzzled by the apparent discrepancy between the CBS News division and 60 Minutes.”

“It took another two years for the network to air a forensic review of Hunter Biden’s laptop data.

“I advocated for the report that found both data belonged to Hunter Biden and were not manipulated.”

“Our report aired in November 2022, after the midterm elections.”
