One killer clown takes out another at the weekend box office

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. In 2019, a movie about a killer clown with a reasonable budget dominated the box office. In 2024, the sequel will be completely eclipsed another Continuing with an even more reasonable budget approx. a different Killer clown. Arthur Fleck just couldn't keep up with Art the Clown. Arthur Fleck can hardly keep up with anyone: Joker: Folie À Deux posted the largest second weekend decline ever for a comic book film and nearly the worst second weekend ever for a film.

Joker 2According to Box Office Mojo, the film landed third at the box office last weekend with its measly $7 million. In the meantime, horror 3 debuted at the top with $18.3 million, a resounding success for an indie horror film with a budget of just $2 million. The small slasher that could leave behind a number of films with higher budgets and far more powerful studios. The animated children's film The wild robot comes in second place, while Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (who is enjoying a fairly successful run) comes in fourth. horror 3 was well ahead of the second highest debut of the weekend, piece by piecewhich came in fifth place. The Pharrell Williams biopic, which is inexplicably a Lego movie, grossed $3.8 million at the box office on a $16 million budget.

Box office-wise, it wasn't a great weekend for the buzzy awards contenders. Saturday eveningJason Reitmans SNL Hagiography came in at number seven, while The apprenticeAli Abbasi's opposite of a hagiography about Donald Trump, debuted at number 10. The romantic drama We live in time Starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, it opened at No. 18 but took home the top per-theater average of the weekend, grossing $225,911 in just five theaters.
