Ohio State scores first touchdown in huge rally against Penn State

1 minute, 15 seconds Read

The Ohio State Buckeyes didn't get off to a great start Saturday afternoon against the Penn State Nittany Lions.

They fell behind 10-0, including a brutal pick-six from Will Howard.

But Ohio State responded with a clear answer.

First, Howard threw a touchdown pass to Emeka Egbuka, and then, after some big stops from the Buckeyes' defense, Howard found wide receiver Brandon Inniss for a 21-yard touchdown pass, giving Ohio State a 14-yard lead in the second quarter. 10 provided.

This was certainly a great first half comeback by the Buckeyes.

Penn State came into this game undefeated, so trailing Happy Valley by 10 points right away seemed like a recipe for disaster.

Instead, Ohio State showed serious championship ability on both ends. Here too, offensive coordinator Chip Kelly deserves thanks for his great game management.

The go-ahead score was Inniss' first touchdown of the season. He entered Saturday's matchup having logged just eight catches for 92 yards in 2024.

Given that Inniss plays behind a deep receiving corps that includes Egbuka, Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, it's no surprise that he hasn't gotten many touches of the ball.

But he just made perhaps the biggest catch of his college career to date.

Of course, the job is far from done for Ohio State. There's still plenty of time left in this game, and as the Buckeyes realized from the start, the Nittany Lions have come to play.
