Obama has released a dissident track about Trump – with support from Eminem

A fact check: Despite the former President Barack Obama's statements on stage at a rally in support of Kamala Harris In Detroit, Michigan, he wasn't wearing a sweater, nor was there any trace of vomit on it, let alone pasta that his mother had made. It is not yet known whether his palms were sweaty, his knees were weak, or his arms were heavy. This is a developing story.

We can confirm that Obama showed off his rap skills behind the podium at the city's Huntington Place Convention Center after being introduced by the rapper EminemHe took the stage to the sounds of the musician's 2002 Grammy-winning hit “Lose Yourself.”

“I've attended a lot of rallies, so I don't usually get nervous,” Obama told the cheering crowd. “But I felt like I was kind of following Eminem. I notice that my palms are sweaty, my knees are weak, my arms are heavy, I've already vomited on my sweater, mom's spaghetti. I’m nervous, but on the surface I look calm and ready to drop bombs, but I keep going.”

After delivering his own beat and pretending to carry on with the impromptu karaoke session, he joked: “I thought Eminem was going to perform, I was going to drop out. Love me some Eminem.”

Obama wore a white button-down shirt without a tie and his sleeves rolled up to heat up the enthusiastic gathering. Again: no sweater, no signs of burping.

In his roughly 45 minutes on stage, Obama urged the crowd to vote for Harris and made direct attacks on her Republican opponent, Donald Trumpincluding a discussion of Trump's bizarre town hall event in Pennsylvania earlier this month, when, after several members of the crowd required medical attention, Trump first asked if “anyone else wants to faint” and then declared, “Who the hell “I want to hear questions, right?” The former president remained on stage for 39 minutes, swaying to the background music.

Obama used the incident as an opportunity to publish his own dissident about Trump.

“If your grandpa acted like that, you would be worried,” Obama said of the episode on Tuesday. “This is someone who wants uncontrolled power. We don't need to see what an older, crazier Donald Trump looks like without guardrails. America is ready to turn the tide.”

Michigan is a swing state and Detroit reliably leans Democratic. So Democrats are counting on high voter turnout from the city and surrounding areas to boost their hopes of winning the state.

Governor of Michigan. Gretchen Whitmer was also at the rally Tuesday night, responding to Trump's recent characterization of Detroit as a “developing city.”

At the Detroit Economic Club earlier this month, Trump said, “The whole country is going to say, 'You want to know the truth?' It's going to be like Detroit. Our whole country will end up like Detroit if she is your president.”

And what's so bad about that, Whitmer seemed to ask.

“I know you all saw what he said about this beautiful city. He called Detroit a failure and a mess, proving he's not firing on all cylinders,” Whitmer said in her speech to Obama. “He has no idea what the hell he was talking about. And do you know what I think? He should keep Detroit out of his mouth.”
