The best NHL prop bets

Yegor Chinakhov over 2.5 SOG

(+120, BetRivers)

The odds for Yegor Chinakhov, who is expected to have a career season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, have not yet been adjusted. The winger scored 16 goals and 29 points in 53 games last season, an average of 15:10 per game. Through two games this season, he is averaging 19:23 per game and has four points (two power play points). Chinakhov has had seven shots on goal in that span. The Blue Jackets are extremely thin up front, so the usage rate should remain high as long as he stays healthy. Florida is in the second half of a back-to-back with its best defensive forward Aleksander Barkov down and Matthew Tkachuk also out.

Logan Stankoven Point

The Stars are starting the season a perfect 3-0 and have only conceded three goals. They face one of the worst teams in the league in the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. Strange things happen in the NHL, but Dallas should make it to San Jose tonight. There is great value in getting a point for several players, including Stankoven, Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, Matt Duchene and Mason Marchment. I'm going with Stankoven here as he has picked up four points in his first three games. He's tied with Wyatt Johnston and Jamie Benn, who have combined for five points in three games. Connor McDavid over 1.5 points

The Oilers have had a terrible performance so far this season, entering Tuesday with a 0-3 record to start the season and being outscored 15-3. McDavid only has two assists, so it's only a matter of time before he breaks through. You could kind of see it in his last game as he was more aggressive and hit five shots after only having three in his first two games. The Flyers are very interesting at +205, but we don't get -110 for McDavid to have two points very often. This is a player who is usually -175 for two points.

As I mentioned in my Underrated Fantasy Hockey Targets video, PLD is in for a rebound season. Yes, he is overrated, but his usage rate was very low in Los Angeles and that won't be the case in Washington. He averaged just 15:42 for the Kings, playing on the third line, some fourth line, and the second power play. He's on the second line and is Washington's first power play. In his debut, he recorded one point and two shots and played 17:29. That's more in line with his two seasons in Winnipeg, where he scored 55 goals (26 power play goals) in just over 18 minutes per game.
