NFL Week 8: Raiders-Chiefs live stream, start time Sunday, October 27th

The game

The Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders have been division rivals since the AFL's founding in 1960, when the two teams were founded in Dallas and Oakland to compete with the NFL's Cowboys and 49ers. Their 128th regular-season game is Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Kickoff will be at 3:25 p.m. Arrowhead Time on CBS – locally on KCTV/5.

Just like the Los Angeles Chargers, this AFC West rivalry has taken on a completely different flavor since head coach Andy Reid took over from Kansas City. Before 2013, the Chiefs held a slight 53-50-2 lead over the Raiders. However, since Reid's arrival, Las Vegas has won just four of 22 games.

The most recent was in the two teams' second meeting in 2023, when the 6-8 Raiders handed the 9-5 Chiefs a 20-14 home loss on Christmas Day. While Kansas City maintained the upper hand throughout the game, the Raiders racked up defensive points on consecutive plays in the second quarter, handing the Chiefs their fourth loss in six weeks.

“'A lot of people would apologize,' Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes remarked the following Wednesday. “That’s why they don’t take the next step – or don’t get better as a result. When you watch the film – and you made a lot of mistakes that you can’t make in this league if you want to be successful – you have to learn from them and get better.”

The Chiefs did just that, winning six straight games to win their second straight NFL championship, followed by six more wins to start 2024. Now they face the 2-5 Raiders her House — and Kansas City offensive coordinator Matt Nagy thinks he knows what to expect from them under head coach Antonio Pierce.

“This is a physical football team that flies around,” he said Thursday. “They feed off Coach Pierce’s personality. I think we understand (and know) that this will be a struggle. They're physical and do a lot of good things well, but it's also a division game, right? This is huge. So we still remember a lot about (the Christmas loss), but we don't want to put too much emphasis on it. We think we have a good thing on our hands. We just want to stick with what we do.”
