Roslovic gave the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead at 6:28 of the first period. On a delayed penalty, Sebastian Aho passed to Roslovic, who scored with a wrist shot from the slot.

“If you can score, it’s obviously great to add that added value to the team,” said Roslovic. “The style of play we play suits me a bit. That’s why I enjoy playing in the system.”

Marchand scored from a 5-on-3 to make it 1-1 at 13:11. Marchand's pass intended for David Pastrnak deflected off the right skate of Carolina defenseman Jaccob Slavin and into the net.

The Hurricanes responded with three goals in 52 seconds.

Svechnikov redirected Gostisbehere's shot from the left point for the power play goal and a 2-1 lead at 17:14.

“I don’t really care where I play on the power play, at half wall, in the middle or in front of the net,” Svechnikov said. “It was good. We move the puck very well and try to find each other. We somehow have the right chemistry. Hopefully we’ll keep going.”

Jackson Blake converted a shot from Dmitry Orlov to extend the lead to 3-1 at 17:52. Orlov played his 800th NHL game.

Necas scored on the power play to make it 4-1 at 18:06 when his pass through the slot deflected off the skate of Boston defenseman Brandon Carlo.

“I don’t think goals like that matter,” Boston forward Trent Frederic said. “I don’t think this can or should defeat us. But it obviously just kept going.”
