Nebraska Football has been in contact with Louisville senior safety Devin Neal. Pete Nakos from On3 (subscription required) reported this on Friday.

Neal left the Cardinals on October 5 and entered the transfer portal. He transferred from Baylor to Louisville for the 2023 season. He played in all 14 games this year and started 13. He had 74 tackles and four interceptions this season.

Neal also showed his ability to be a strong defender and coverage by recording six pass breakups and one fumble recovery. The safety recorded nine tackles for Louisville this season while coming off the bench.

The Huskers have a strong safety, led this year by senior Isaac Gifford. Neal could provide Nebraska stability at the position as several young players continue to develop. The connection to Baylor is also positive as he has ties to Texas. The connection to Texas was a strength of the coaching staff during their tenure in Lincoln.
