It's only fitting for a Louisville native to represent one of Louisville's greatest icons.

Cardinals defensive lineman and Eastern High School graduate Ramon Puryear was the role model for No. 22 Louisville Football on Thursday as it announced its Week 6 combination of red and gold champion jerseys against SMU. The uniform pays homage to the 50th anniversary of the late legendary boxer Muhammad Ali's Rumble in the Jungle fight against George Foreman in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo. Ali defeated Foreman to regain the heavyweight title.

Louisville, seeking its first ACC title, opened the conference with a win over Georgia Tech. The Cardinals' game against the Mustangs on Saturday will be the programs' first meeting in 40 years. In the 1983-84 season, U of L and SMU played a home-against-home series, with the latter winning both games.

The Mustangs enter ACC competition this week after a 42-16 win over Florida State, while the Cardinals look to rebound from a 31-24 loss at Notre Dame.
