Mississippi Election 2024: What's on the ballot Tuesday?

Mississippians will go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 5, to elect federal and state judicial positions as well as some local offices, such as election commissioners and school board members.

Polling stations are open on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. To find your polling place, use the Secretary of State's locator or call your local county clerk.

Below is a list of candidates for federal and judicial offices with brief biographies:

president

  • Kamala Harris, current vice president and Democratic presidential candidate. Your vice president is Tim Walz.
  • Donald Trump, former president and current Republican candidate. Its vice president is JD Vance.
  • Robert Kennedy Jr. remains on the ballot in Mississippi despite supporting Trump. His vice president is Nicole Shanahan.
  • Jill Stein is the Green Party candidate. Its vice president is Rudolph Ware.
  • Five other candidates will run in the presidential election in Mississippi. For a complete list of presidential candidates, see the sample ballot.

US Senate

  • Ty Pinkins is the Democratic nominee. He is from Rolling Fork and is an attorney. Among other things, he represents clients who claim unfair working conditions. He served 21 years in the U.S. Army, including combat tours, other overseas deployments and White House postings.
  • Roger Wicker is the incumbent Republican Senator. He lives in Tupelo and has served in the U.S. Senate since late 2007, after initially being appointed to fill a vacancy by then-Gov. Haley Barbour. He was elected to office in 2008. He previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives and as a state senator. He is a lawyer and served in the United States Air Force.

House District 1

  • Dianne Black is the Democratic nominee. She is a small business owner in Olive Branch, DeSoto County.
  • Trent Kelly is the Republican incumbent. He was elected to office in a special election in 2015. He previously served as district attorney and before that as prosecutor for the city of Tupelo. He is a major general in the Mississippi Army National Guard.

House District 2

  • Bennie Thompson is the Democratic incumbent. He was first elected to office in 1993. He previously served as Hinds County supervisor and as a city councilman and then mayor of Bolton.
  • Ronald Eller is the Republican candidate. He grew up in West Virginia and moved to central Mississippi after leaving the military. He is a medical assistant and business owner.

House district 3

  • Michael Guest is the Republican incumbent and is unopposed.

House District 4

  • Mike Ezell is the Republican incumbent who will be elected for the first time in 2022. He previously served as sheriff in Jackson County.
  • Craig Raybon is the Democratic candidate. A Gulfport native, Raybon founded a nonprofit organization “focused on helping the community as a whole.”

Central District Supreme Court

  • Jenifer Branning is currently a member of the State Senate for Neshoba County.
  • Byron Carter is an attorney in Hinds County and previously served as a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Armis Hawkins.
  • The incumbent is James Kitchens. He has served on the state's highest court since 2008.
  • Ceola James previously served on the Court of Appeal.
  • Abby Gale Robinson is an attorney in Jackson. She previously worked as a commercial construction contractor.

Southern District Supreme Court

  • The incumbent is Dawn Beam, who was first appointed in 2016 by then-Gov. Phil Bryant later won election to the post. She is a former chancellor of the Hattiesburg area.
  • David Sullivan is a Harrison County attorney and has been city judge in D'Iberville since 2019. His father, Michael, previously served on the state Supreme Court.

Northern District Supreme Court Seats

  • Robert Chamberlin of DeSoto County is unopposed.
  • James Maxwell of Lafayette County is unopposed.

Court of Appeal 5Th District seat

  • Ian Baker is an assistant district attorney in Harrison County.
  • Jennifer Schloegel is a Chancery Court judge for Harrison, Hancock and Stone counties.
  • Amy St. Pe is a Gautier Municipal Court Judge.

Court of Appeal District 2

  • Incumbent Latrice Westbrooks has no opponent.

Court of Appeal District 3

  • Incumbent Jack Wilson has no opponent.
