Mike Tannenbaum may have just come up with the most outrageous trade proposal to the Detroit Lions you'll ever see from an NFL expert, involving Cleveland Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett.

Tannenbaum, who led the front offices of the Jets and Dolphins during a nearly three-decade football career in the 2000s, was there ESPN's “Get Up” morning show on Friday, and his idea caused fellow analyst and former NFL cornerback Ryan Clark to briefly leave the set.

Why? Well, here was Tannenbaum's job:

  • Lions get: Myles Garrett.
  • Browns get: Three first-round picks, Jahmyr Gibbs and second-round picks.

“And the Detroit Lions are going to win the Super Bowl!” Tannenbaum exclaimed.

“They're going to throw Joe Louis' fist in there,” interjected analyst Dan Graziano, “the GM building, like what else, that big bridge to Canada.”

“They desperately need a pass rusher,” Tannenbaum said. “Aidan Hutchinson could come back, this guy (Garrett) is still young, in the prime of his career and if I'm Detroit I can win the Super Bowl. Jahmyr Gibbs is a good player, but he is replaceable.”

Garrett, the Browns' No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft, is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and has recorded at least 10 sacks in six consecutive seasons. He has played four of eight games this season and will turn 29 in December.

“Three (firsts),” asked analyst and former NFL linebacker Bart Scott in disbelief?

“If you think about it, it’s actually four because Gibbs was a first-rounder last year,” Graziano added.

“Brad Holmes, who came from the Rams – 'F them picks' – these will be low picks and you won't have the opportunity to get anyone,” Tannenbaum said.

“What kind of Herschel Walker deal is this?” asked Scott.

“With this offense going like this, why wouldn’t they win the Super Bowl with Myles Garrett?” Tannenbaum said.

“You could win without them,” Graziano said.

“You have the right team, the wrong player,” Scott said. “Get Za'Darius Smith and keep your pick. Jahmyr Gibbs is their home run hitter. This is a team based on playing the football. Za'Darius Smith will be fine, you get him for a box of cool help.”

“Myles Garrett may be the best player in the NFL, not a quarterback,” Tannenbaum responded.

Finally, Clark went back to the set to give his opinion.

“This team is good enough without doing it The Kind of change,” Clark said, before agreeing that the Lions need a proven pass rusher.

“If you give up Jahmyr Gibbs, you give up part of your offensive identity. And for me, the offensive identity of this team is the driving force for winning the Super Bowl.”

Tannenbaum concluded the conversation with a look from the front office perspective, with Tuesday's trade deadline looming at 4 p.m

“Guys, don’t get me wrong, I think Jahmyr Gibbs is a great player. All I’m saying is that from a team-building perspective, it’s almost impossible to get someone like Myles Garrett.”

Lions fans probably only have one request: no one gives Holmes' phone number to Tannenbaum.
