The McDonald's restaurant where Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump briefly worked on Sunday failed its latest health inspection, documents show.

The former president worked the fry station and served take-out food to people on the drive-thru in Feasterville-Trevose in Bucks County, a key swing voter area in battleground Pennsylvania. The restaurant was closed to the public due to Trump's visit.

Trump, a big fan of McDonald's food and an avowed germaphobe, wore an apron over his shirt and tie during his visit but didn't wear gloves or a hairnet and said his hands were “nice and clean.” According to Meida's Touch, he went straight to work without washing his hands.

Employees' failure to wash their hands was one of the reasons the restaurant failed its most recent inspection.

Newsweek has reached out to McDonald's and the Trump campaign for comment outside of business hours. This article will be updated when a comment is received.

A Bucks County Health Department report following a March 27 inspection cited health code violations, including that employees did not have “clean and properly washed hands.”

Additionally, employees were observed not washing their hands before putting on gloves and after performing activities that could contaminate their hands.

“Food workers do not wash their hands as required before putting on gloves, after handling dirty dishes, after handling raw meat, before handling clean dishes, equipment and utensils,” the county inspector wrote in the report. “Observed employees handling raw beef with gloves and then changing gloves without washing their hands in between.”

The inspector also found that food workers “did not wear hair restraints as required, which also applies to management who help pack and prepare food.”

“Employees must wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings or nets. They are designed and worn so that their hair does not come into contact with exposed food. They are also required to clean equipment, utensils and laundry, as well as unpackaged single-use and single-use items,” the report said.

In addition, the restaurant was accused of failing to store some food at the correct temperature. The report also noted that there was “severe ice and frost buildup” in a walk-in freezer that required repairs and maintenance.

Some on social media criticized Trump for not wearing gloves or hair restraints.

“My problem with the McDonald's/Trump setup… They closed the place. People have lost their wages for a man who doesn't believe in paying hourly wages overtime. He did not wear gloves when handling food. This is stupid,” said Tonya McKenzie, a public relations expert, wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Lynn Marchitelli wrote: “Looking at the pictures of Trump 'working' at McDonald's makes me want to scream. Multiple food safety violations including lack of hairnets and lack of gloves. Disgusting.”

And another, known as @CHERRYW00609336, wrote: “Trump uses his bare hands when handling food, not gloves. Violation of health and safety regulations.”

Others called Trump's visit a ploy because the restaurant was closed.

Seth Abramson, journalist and lawyer, wrote on “did nothing.”

Trump's visit came amid his attacks on Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris' accounts of her work at the fast food giant while in college. Trump has repeatedly claimed that Harris is lying without providing any evidence.
