Martha Stewart says she cheated on her ex-husband in Netflix doc trailer

Martha Stewart chronicles her ups and downs, including the revelation that she once had an extramarital affair, in a new self-titled documentary.

“I was considered crazy, but it worked. Young women listened to my advice,” Stewart, 83, said in the trailer for the Thursday, Oct. 19, Netflix show. “If you are married and your husband starts cheating on you, he is an idiot. Get out of this marriage.”

Producers then asked her about her own affair, to which Stewart replied: “Yeah, but I don't think Andy ever knew about it.”

The TV star was married to his ex-husband Andrew Stewartwith whom she had their daughter Alexis between 1961 and 1990. She made her debut three years after her divorce Martha Stewart Living Daily series that inspired a magazine of the same name. Martha continued to host The Martha Stewart Show and author of several cookbooks.

Martha Stewart celebrated her 83rd birthday on August 3, but she has no plans to slow down. In fact, she's busier than ever: Her signature brand is in demand and her 100th cookbook, Martha Stewart: The Cookbook, is coming out in November. “I'm trying to balance a lot,” the mogul told Us while promoting Pure (…).

“What is more important? A marriage or a career?” Stewart asked in the trailer. “You tell me. I don't know. The house and the cookie life wasn't for me.”

She added: “I had two mottos: Learn something new every day, and when you're done changing, you're done.” I could have just been a miserable former housewife, but I didn't let that happen to me – and I’m so glad I didn’t.”

Martha didn't let anything stop her from her business success, which made her feel like she was “on top of the world” until her arrest in 2004. The lifestyle expert was found guilty of conspiracy to obstruct and making false statements to federal court

Investigators later sentenced him to five months in prison and two years of supervised release. She was released from prison in March 2005.
