Louisiana Lottery confirms a win of $875,000 Saturday evening

Did you know there are 270 Circle K convenience stores in Louisiana? They serve communities such as Lafayette, New Iberia, Morgan City and Baton Rouge. People visit the Circle K for gas, snacks, cold beer and a chance to get rich playing the Louisiana Lottery games.

The Louisiana Lottery offers many of its scratch games through Circle K. Maybe you've tried your luck at a one dollar, two dollar, or even ten dollar game. I don't normally see many people buying “scratches” at Circle K, but I do see a lot of people interested in the big money from Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto and Easy 5.

If you were too busy watching football over the weekend, be sure to catch up on the status of each game as we move into October at the end of September. First the big one, Powerball.

The game will have an estimated grand prize of $258 million on the line tonight. Since there was no jackpot winner on Saturday evening, we came up with the current estimated pension for today's drawing. The drawing takes place shortly before 10 p.m. If you want to attend, you must purchase your ticket before 9:00 p.m.

The Powerball jackpot is the biggest jackpot on the board this week. Mega Millions had a big winner not long ago and the jackpot in that game rose to $93 million for the estimated annuity as of Tuesday night.

Easy 5, a Louisiana Lottery game, had a jackpot winner on September 7th. The prize in this game was $60,000. Since this drawing, the estimated jackpot amount for Easy 5 has increased to $110,000. Your next chance to play and win Easy 5 will be on Wednesday evening.

That brings us to the lottery. The current Louisiana Lottery jackpot amount is $500,000. Here the game's top prize is reset after a big win. And yes, there was a big win in Louisiana on Saturday night, and you probably found out that the winning ticket was purchased at a Circle K store.

Our sources at the Louisiana Lottery offices in Baton Rouge tell us the $875,000 winner was sold at Circle K #2723767. If that name doesn't sound familiar, most of you know it as “Circle K on Highway 43 in Albany, Louisiana.”

In keeping with the statistical probability theory I have developed over the years, the winning ticket, like most of them, was purchased within 50 miles of I-10. Albany is in Livingstone Parish if you've been asleep since your Louisiana history class in junior high school.

Louisiana $50,000 Powerball winner expires Thursday

Congratulations to this weekend's big money winner. I hope you spend it wisely. By the way, a $50,000 Powerball winner from April 6th expires on Thursday, October 3rd. This winner was purchased in New Orleans at Lakeview Discount on Harrison Avenue in the Big Easy. If you played Powerball in New Orleans in April, you could miss out if you don't act quickly.

As always, we encourage responsible gambling on these and all lottery games. If you have a gambling problem, you can get help by calling 1-877-770-STOP (7867). The call and referral for counseling are free for you or your family. Good luck.
