Lineups between Real Madrid and AC Milan: Kylian Mbappe and Rafael Leao start, Rodrygo sits on the bench

One of the standout games in today's Champions League action will be Real Madrid hosting AC Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The teams have reputable European heritage and have won the competition a total of 22 times between them. The two giants will try to make a statement tonight.

However, neither team has performed exceptionally well in Europe so far this season. Los Blancos are in 12th place with six points, while Milan are even further in 25th place with just three points after their only and most recent 3-1 win over Club Brugge.

Knowing the impact three points would have on their standings, both teams will be desperate to put in good performances to establish themselves as contenders for a place in the knockout rounds.

Ahead of the game, which is scheduled to start at 8pm (UK time), Carlo Ancelotti and Paulo Fonseca have announced their starting lineups.

Ballon d'Or runner-up Vini Jr. starts at the top alongside Kylian Mbappe, but at the expense of Rodrygo. The Brazilian started two of Madrid's previous Champions League games but was benched for tonight's game.

AC Milan line-up

Elsewhere, the big talking point is Rafael Leao's return to Fonseca's starting XI.

The Portuguese winger was left out of three of his manager's recent starting lineups but returns to action tonight.
